The Challenge
To develop a new recruitment system to convert all applications as efficiently and quickly as possible, to ensure adequate driver availability to support the expansion of their business.
The Client
GoCarz are a forward thinking taxi company with unrivalled growth across the West Midlands. With over 20 years’ operating experience, Go Carz is one of the fastest growing premier private hire services with over 1100 cars transporting over 85,000 passengers a week. They invest heavily in technology to support the ongoing expansion of the company by making sure all their systems and processes are scalable across multiple locations and with ever increasing numbers.
The Project
GoCarz identified that a key area to the successful running and expansion of their business is the recruitment of drivers. Without adequate driver availability GoCarz lose potential revenue when demand for taxi services is high. The driver recruitment process is complex with a high administrative burden. With various legal requirements and key timings for tasks and up to 100 live applicants at any one time, things quickly became difficult to manage.
A new recruitment system was required to convert all applications as efficiently and quickly as possible.
After evaluating existing recruitment software on the market it became clear that none were suitable for the unique requirements of the taxi market. GoCarz approached Cloud Construct asking them to review their requirements, evaluate their current application and propose improvements.
Following an in depth design process, the system was built in close collaboration with GoCarz using modern software design and development techniques, allowing for continuous review.
The multi user web application was designed to be hosted securely online making it accessible from all GoCarz offices and to make use of the latest Internet optimisation technologies to ensure it is fast and highly available. New tools were developed to manage the drivers through the licensing application process, ensuring all paperwork and payments are made on time and to the right licensing authority.
The application also provides key reporting metrics which gives the ability to forecast number of drivers at different stages (application right through to leaving the business and if they were lost to a competitor) and allows managers to schedule interviews and keep head office up to date with all on-going recruitment.
Results
The system has improved the efficiency of managing driver applications and decreased the overall time from application to employment. This has, in turn, lowered admin overheads and increased conversion rate of applicants to drivers.
Overall, the system has resulted in more drivers on the road working for GoCarz and an increase in revenue.
