The Challenge
To replace the client’s legacy website with a modern, mobile friendly site to promote the brand and provide a stronger marketing tool.
The Client
Brian, founder of Control Corrosion Ltd has been in contact and worked with our founder Peter for over 13 years, and after experiencing a poor service from another company, Brian sought Cloud Construct to reflect the great experiences he had with us previously on this new project.
Corrosion Control Ltd offers owners or operators of plant, infrastructure or facilities in the petrochemical, water, transport, ports, marine and offshore industries, specialist corrosion and Cathodic Protection advice.
The Project
In an effort to attract larger clients, alongside a transition from a sole trader entity to a limited liability company, the business recognised the need for a website refresh. With the previous website being almost entirely text based, and incompatible with mobile devices the business sought Cloud Construct’s help in bringing their online presence up to par with their offline presence.
With over 50% of connections to the internet being made on mobile, Control Corrosion were rightly concerned about the missed sales opportunities with having a non-compatible website.
Following initial consultancy with Cloud Construct it was decided that rather than build upon the existing website we would build a fresh website from the ground up using efficient and modern technologies. This guarantees the infrastructure will be in place to host the new website with performance at the heart of the build.
The project utilised our expertise in building secure, powerful and accessible WordPress installations. Heavy design focus was also placed on the project from the outset to ensure the client’s expectations were met; reducing the apparentness of heavy text and adding colour to the site.
It was important for the client to be able to take on some of the management of the site post-launch themselves as a way of absorbing some of the on-going maintenance costs associated with a website. As with all of our clients, we provided full access to the website’s WordPress dashboard, and site source code via our secure and powerful hosting to facilitate this.
With the business sector being a specialist sector it was important for us to display all of the relevant, accreditations, details and documents that a potential client would find relevant on the new website, without replicating the text-heavy nature of their previous site.
The use of bold text, imagery and split content (using tabs and accordions) helps to feed information to the site visitor in a clear and concise way, without becoming overwhelming.
Control Corrosions existing website had a number of pages which were valuable and contributed to their SEO (Search Engine Optimisation). We needed to handle these carefully during the migration to ensure that Google retained the pages within its index.
Upon evaluating the expected site traffic volume we established our advanced AWS WordPress hosting solution would be overkill – this is designed to ensure high global performance to deliver content to many simultaneous visitors.
Instead, Control Corrosion are hosted on our tried and tested security configuration and Advanced Business Hosting Environment with high availability, performance and security scanning. It also includes:
- Regular automated backups of entire hosting area
- Unlimited storage and no extra bandwidth charges
- Denial of Service and security firewall protection
- Security certificate at no extra cost (SSL/TLS)
- Full control panel access for you or your IT company to manage if required
On completion, the website was passed over to Control Corrosion with full training and, by providing total control, they are now able to continuously update the site with blogs, imagery and information to speed up their internal processes and minimise maintenance costs.
Our WordPress Maintenance Package can also help with the on-going maintenance of a WordPress website. This package ensures the website remains up-to-date and secure; in addition to automated monitoring and alerting to urgent issues, every month we run through the clients website keeping plugins, WordPress Core and themes are up to date. This allows our clients to focus on what’s important for their business, whilst we take care of their digital infrastructure.
